Time tracking without screenshots.

Tidpunkt never takes screenshots and doesn’t record keystrokes, mouse activity, apps or websites. People log their own time from the menu bar, and you get the hours you need to price the work.

You need real hours to price the next project. You don’t need proof that someone was busy at 14:05.

Most agencies start tracking time to learn what a project really cost. Did the fixed-price job take 60 hours or 90? Which client eats the most calls? Answering that takes honest entries against the right project. It doesn’t take a picture of anyone’s screen.

Surveillance works against those entries. When people know a tool is watching, they log what looks good: long blocks of focused work. The 15-minute call, the quick fix and the question that took half an hour drop out. Those are the hours that sink a fixed-price project.

People log the small stuff in a tool they don’t mind using. That’s why Tidpunkt sits in the menu bar or system tray on macOS, Windows and Ubuntu, and why saving, continuing or starting an entry takes two clicks. The honest entry should be the easy one.

What Tidpunkt collects, and what it never does

The only time data is what people enter themselves. Our privacy policy has the detail, and the security page explains how it is kept.

No screenshots, ever

Not on any plan and not as an add-on. Nobody can see your screen through Tidpunkt.

No keystrokes or mouse activity

Tidpunkt doesn’t count key presses or mouse movement, and it doesn’t turn them into activity scores.

No apps or websites

It doesn’t record which programs you open or which sites you visit.

No webcam

No photos, no camera checks, no microphone.

Only the entries people make

Each entry holds the project or contract, the task, the duration and any notes. Nothing is gathered in the background.

Hosted in the EU

Your data is hosted in the European Union on every plan. Export it as CSV whenever you like.

What each approach collects

Employee monitoring software and a time tracker can look alike on a pricing page. Here is what each one records.

Data collected by typical employee monitoring software compared with Tidpunkt
Data Typical employee monitoring software Tidpunkt
Screenshots of the screen Common Never
Keystrokes and mouse activity Common No
Apps and websites used Common No
Webcam photos In some tools No
Activity scores per person Common No
Time entries Often automatic Logged by the person

From public pricing and help pages, October 2026: Clockify offers screenshots on its Pro plan and above, taken about every 5 minutes while the desktop timer runs, and admins can see everyone’s. Toggl Track says it doesn’t take screenshots.

How to introduce time tracking without it feeling like policing

Most pushback isn’t about the app. It’s about what people think the numbers are for. Running a small agency? See how Tidpunkt works for small agencies, or put a number on unlogged time with the lost-hours calculator.

01

Say why, out loud

Tell the team what the hours are for: pricing the next project and finding work nobody is paid for. If the reason is vague, people fill the gap with the worst guess.

02

Track projects, not people

Look at what a contract cost, not at who logged the fewest hours. Reports by project and contract keep the conversation on the work.

03

Show the team the reports

Share the numbers you look at. When people see their entries turn into a better estimate, logging stops feeling like a chore done for someone else.

04

Start with one project

Pick one project, ideally a fixed-price one, and log everything on it for a few weeks. Compare the result with the estimate together, then decide what comes next.

Questions people ask

Does Tidpunkt take screenshots?

No. Tidpunkt has never taken screenshots and never will. There is no setting to turn them on.

Can my manager see what I’m doing on my computer?

No. Tidpunkt doesn’t see your screen, your apps, your browser or your keyboard. People with access to your team’s reports see the entries you saved: project, duration and your notes. Nothing more.

Does it track keystrokes, apps or websites?

No. It doesn’t count keystrokes or mouse movement and doesn’t record which apps or websites you use. People log their own time.

If nobody is watching, how do I know the hours are right?

Screenshots don’t make hours right either; they make people careful about what they log. Entries are closest to the truth when logging is quick and people know the numbers price projects rather than judge them. Compare logged hours with the estimate on each project and talk about the gaps.

Where is the data stored?

In the European Union, on every plan. You can export your entries as CSV at any time.
